AILET 2023 Exam Analysis & Expected Cutoffs: The AILET 2023 exam had an entirely new feel this year. Students were surprised to see English(Section A) and Logical Reasoning(Section B) spread across the 10 passages as Part 1 and Current Affairs as Part 2. The passages include eclectic topics like legal concepts, science & environment, syllogisms & logic, blood relations, succession/inheritance, and contemporary topics like Racing, Cryptocurrency & phishing/scamming. Overall, it was a lengthy paper as students needed to alternate the thinking pattern for each passage.
The English (Section A) of Part I was fairly easy. This section covered familiar question types like Contextual vocabulary, idioms, analogy; Grammar questions including parts of speech, figures of speech, phrasal verb; paracompletion; style, title, tone of passage. The trick was to solve as many questions as possible. ALPians with good reading speed and practice of varied question types would have nailed it. Overall an easy section.
The logical reasoning section was a mix of Analytical Reasoning(21) and Critical Reasoning (47) questions and 2 maths questions. There were no legal principle-based questions. This section was time-consuming due to high levels of concentration needed. Analytical included directions, coding/decoding, blood relations and arrangements. Logical included mostly inference-based, syllogisms and deductive logic ALPians who have practised different question types would have been comfortable. Overall a tough section.
This section had a mix of Static and Current affairs with questions from Polity, International Affairs, Business, Sports, Geography, Science & Technology. Questions were predominantly from familiar topics and ALPians who have followed GK banks and exercises would have aced this section. Overall an easy section.
