1. Overview

All India Law Entrance Test also called as AILET is the national level entrance examination that is conducted for the admissions to the B.A LLB programs in colleges/institution affiliated by National Law University, Delhi. The exam is conducted in the offline mode. Negative marking is applicable since 2017.

2. AILET Eligibility

• The age of the GEN/OBC candidates should not be more than 21 years and for that SC/ST/ it will be 23 years.
• Those candidates can also appear who are in their final year of their qualifying examination.During their admission in the colleges affiliated to NLUD they have to show that they have cleared their examination with the aggregate score as expected. Please note that this is compulsory.
• The candidates must have passed from the recognized university/board with 50% marks
• In addition, the candidates belonging from foreign national should have an aggregate of 65% marks in 10+2 examination. NRI candidate are not required to give AILET test if they fulfil the score criteria.
• The age of the GEN/OBC candidates should not be more than 21 years and for that SC/ST/ it will be 23 years.
• It is obligatory for the candidates belonging to GEN/OBC to score at least 40% marks in AILET exam for the admission procedure. At least 30% marks in case candidates belong to SC/ST.

2.1 For LLM Course
• The candidates must have the minimum of 55% marks in LLB or in its equivalent degree for GEN/OBC candidates (50% for SC/ST candidates).
• The foreign national candidates should have an aggregate of 55% marks in qualifying degree for the admission and further called for personal interview in order to check their communication skill in English.

2.2 For PhD Course
• The applying candidate must have a master degree in law from recognized university with percentage criteria of at least 55% for unreserved category and 50% marks for reserved category candidates.
• The applicants must possess the degree in law and master degree with M.Phil.in social science or humanities for the admission in Ph.D program.

3. AILET Application Fees

• For GEN/OBC category candidates: Rs. 3000/-.
• For Persons with Disabilities: Rs. 2000/-.
• For SC/ST category candidates: Rs. 1000/-.
• The candidates belonging from SC/ST category and are below poverty line need not to pay any application fee. The application form is free of cost for them.

4. AILET 2019 Exam Pattern

AILET examination will be conducted in the offline mode and the language of attempt will only be English language. The exam duration is 1hour 30minutes.Only ‘Objective type questions’ will be asked in the exam. There are total 150 questions which totals up to 150 marks
• Negative marking will be applicable (One mark for correct answers and 0.25 will be deducted for every incorrect answer)
• The subjects which are tested in the examination includes English, General knowledge, legal aptitude, logical reasoning and elementary mathematics.

6. Syllabus for AILET

Section 1-English and Comprehension: This section comprises of questions predominantly in the areas of Comprehension passages, Synonyms, Antonyms, Choosing correct words, Idioms and phrases, Jumble words and sentences, Fill-in the blanks. A very good vocabulary and speed in reading will help the candidates do well in this section. Proficiency in English will be basically tested.

Section 2 -General Knowledge and Current Affairs: This section contains of questions on your general awareness of what is happening in the world during the last one year, with an emphasis on India and static general knowledge. It includes History, Geography, General Science, Economics, Civics and Current Affairs

Section 3-Mathematics: This section contains questions based on your knowledge of elementary mathematics taught in school up to Class X. It includes questions from Profit and Loss, Speed and Distance, Time and Work, Algebra, etc.

Section 4 -Legal Aptitude: The Legal aptitude section consists of questions in the areas of Study of law, Research aptitude and Problem solving ability.

Section 5-Logical Reasoning: The purpose of the logical reasoning section is to test your ability to identify patterns, logical links and rectify illogical arguments. It includes a wide variety of critical reasoning questions such as syllogisms, logical sequences and arguments. A variety of arrangements, blood relations-based puzzles and analogies are in this section.
