1. Overview

The National Law University Tripura (NLUT AGARTALA), established by Tripura Act No. 3 of 2022, is a national institution of excellence in legal education located in Agartala, the green capital city. It is a watershed moment in the state of Tripura’s legal education and research for improving the quality of professional legal education. NLU Tripura is currently housed on the beautiful campus of Tripura Judicial Academy, which has state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities. Agartala’s pristine environment provides ideal conditions for the pursuit of knowledge.
The University is dedicated to instilling in students and faculty members a strong sense of social, economic, and political justice. It strives to enrich the bar and bench through justice education. It takes a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach to educate. The University’s academic activities will directly help the local communities through legal aid programmes and social outreach activities.

2. Courses Offered

2.1 B.A, LL.B (Hons.)

National Law University Tripura (NLUT) offers the following five-year integrated undergraduate programmes in pursuit of its goal of promoting integrated knowledge: 60 Seats for B.A.LL.B. (Hons.)

2.2 Postgraduate LL.M

National Law University Tripura provides a one-year LL.M. Degree Program for students interested in pursuing a career in law teaching. The University offers a one-year LL.M. programme with constitutional law specializations.

The Course consists of three Foundation/Compulsory Papers (three credits each), six Optional/Specialization Papers (two credits each) to be announced each semester, and a Dissertation (3 credits).

3. GNLU Eligibility

3.1 For B.A,LL.B (Hons.)

Successful completion of the HSC/intermediate Examination (10+2) or its equivalent examination with at least 45% in aggregate (40% in the case of SC/ST).
A candidate may appear in the qualifying examination on a provisional basis, subject to the production of required qualification papers prior to or at the date of admission.

3.2 For Postgraduate LL.M

LL.B. degree/equivalent degree in law from a recognized University, with not less than 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST students)

The Tripura Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Reservation Act of 1991 will govern the reservation of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
At the event, 5% of the seats will be reserved horizontally for Specially Abled Persons (SAP).According to the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act of 2016, at the national level.

4. Fee Structure

4.1 B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) Program

B.A,LL.B (Hons.) is a 5 year course and the fee is 1.81 lakhs p.a. Which includes hostel , maintenance etc.

4.2 LL.M. Program

LL.M is a 1 year course in Constitutional Law the fee is 1.51 lakhs p.a. Which includes hostel , maintenance etc.
