Non NLU Colleges Accepting CLAT

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a nationwide entrance examination conducted for admission into the 19 National Law Universities (NLUs) across the country (NLU Delhi has its own entrance examination, the AILET). It is one of the nation’s most competitive examinations, with over 60,000 students competing for around 2,000 seats.

CLAT is unpredictable. Despite having put in your best efforts, you might not have made it to your dream college. But do not despair, here are some other colleges that you can consider applying for with your CLAT scores (in no particular order).

MS Ramaiah College of Law, Bangalore

Ramaiah College of Law is a private institute located in Bangalore, Karnataka and was established in the year 1995. The institute is approved by Bar Council of India (BCI) and affiliated to Karnataka State Law University, Hubballi.

The college offers the integrated five-year B.A. LL.B. course, a post-graduate diploma in cyber law and information technology, and a certificate course on Human Rights.

Alliance School of Law, Bangalore

Alliance School of Law was established in the year 2010. It is affiliated to Alliance University and approved by the Bar Council of India.

The college offers the integrated five-year B.A. LL.B. and BBA LL.B. courses, a two-year LLM course and a Ph.D. programme.

Kirit P. Mehta School of Law, Mumbai

Kirit P. Mehta School of Law is a private law college that was established in 2013. It is affiliated to NMIMS Deemed to be University, Mumbai, and is approved by the Bar Council of India.

The college offers the integrated five-year B.A. LL.B. and BBA LL.B. courses and a two-year LLM programme.

CUSAT School of Legal Studies, Kochi

This is one of the oldest law schools in India, established in 1962 as a part of Kerala University. It is now affiliated to Cochin University of Science and Technology.

The college offers a five-year integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) course, a two-year LLM course and a Ph.D. programme.

Nirma University, Ahmedabad

Institute of Law, Nirma University (ILNU) is a private legal studies and training institute located in Ahmedabad. The Institute was set up under the aegis of Nirma University in 2007.

The college offers the integrated five-year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.) programmes, as well as LLM courses with specialisations in Constitutional and Administrative Law, Criminal and Security Law, Legal Pedagogy and Research, Commerce and Corporate Law and Science, Technology and Law. Ph.D. programmes with specialisations in Constitutional Law and Criminal Law are also offered.

VIT Law School, Chennai

VITLS was established in 2014 and is affiliated to VIT University, Chennai. It is accredited by the Bar Council of India.

The college offers the five-year integrated B.A. LL.B. and BBA LL.B. (Hons.) courses.

ICFAI Law School, Dehradun

ICFAI Law School (formerly known as Faculty of Law) is a constituent of the ICFAI University, Dehradun, established with an objective of developing a new generation of legal professionals through comprehensive and contemporary body of knowledge integrating law with Management/Humanities. It has been approved by the BCI.

The college offers the five-year integrated BBA, LL.B. (Hons.) and BA LL.B.(Hons.) courses, a three-year LL.B. course, a two-year LL.M. course and a Ph.D. programme.

Bangalore Institute of Legal Studies, Bangalore

BILS was established in 1993 and is affiliated to Bangalore University, Bangalore. It has been approved by the Bar Council of India.

The college offers the five-year integrated B.A. LL.B. course.

Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar

Lovely Professional University was established in 2005 and is approved by the University Grants Commission.

It offers the integrated five-year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), BBA LL.B. (Hons.) and B. Com. LL.B. (Hons.) courses.

ICFAI Law School, Hyderabad

Established in 1956, the university offers integrated five-year B.A. LL.B. and BBA LL.B. programs.

The college offers the integrated five-year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and BBA LL.B. (Hons.) course, LLM and Ph.D. courses along with other certificate programmes.

SASTRA University, School of Law, Thanjavur

The college is affiliated to SASTRA University, Thanjavur, and is approved by the Bar Council of India.

The college offers the five-year integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.) courses.
