SLAT 2019 analysis

* The difficulty level of a section is assessed as a function of both the toughness of questions as well as deviation from the expected pattern.

Sectional Analysis:

1. English & Comprehension :

This section was predictable with 6 passages having 5 questions each. Predominantly the questions were based on contextual vocabulary. Some of the vocabulary questions were time-consuming as one had to skim and scan to find the similar/opposite words in the passage . Overall it is an easy section.

2. Legal Reasoning:

This section was easy to moderate. The emphasis shifted this year from legal reasoning to legal knowledge. There were around 10 fact-based questions without principles and majority of the questions were knowledge-based ones. Landmark judgments and Emergency were touched upon along with Constitution-based questions. However, ALP students would be undaunted and score reasonably well if they have done their preparation.

3. Logical Reasoning:

The section had familiar critical reasoning questions like strong and weak arguments, sets and course of action. There were some paragraph-based questions which were fairly straightforward and a few analytical reasoning type questions. Overall a moderate section.

4. Analytical Reasoning:

In addition to the regular arrangement-based puzzles, blood relations, coding/decoding & series, there were around 13 to 15 Maths questions, which were easily doable. ALP students who were comfortable doing maths felt this section easy.

5. General Knowledge:

The GK section predominantly focussed on Current Affairs with very few Static GK questions. ALP students who were thorough with the Winter Current Affairs found this section a cake-walk.
