National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru

NLSIU was established in 1987 as India’s first law university and is regarded as India’s best institution for the law. It is one of the three NLU’s in the country which has the Honourable Chief Justice of India as their Vice Chancellor. It offers the five-year integrated BA LLB (Hons.). The institution follows a trimester system – each academic year is divided into three trimesters. NLSIU has exchange programs with several universities across the world. Admission is on the basis of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT)

The University also offers LLM and Ph.D. programs.

National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR), Hyderabad

NALSAR is located in Shamirpet, a suburb of Hyderabad. It was established in 1998 and was the second National Law University to be instituted in India. It offers the five-year integrated BA LLB (Hons.) course, admission to which is on the basis of the CLAT.

NALSAR also offers LLM, MBA and Ph.D. programs.

NLUD was established in New Delhi in 2008. It offers an integrated five-year undergraduate BA LLB (Hons.) program. It also offers LLM, Ph. D as well as post-graduate diploma programs.

Unlike the other NLUs, admission to NLUD is not on the basis of CLAT, but on the basis of the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET).
