1. Overview

The Chanakya national university of law (CNLU Patna) is an autonomous institute, Bihar dedicated for legal education. It was founded in the year 2006 under the initiative of former vice chancellor Dr A Lakshminath who was the registrar and dean of NALSAR University of law Hyderabad. The chief justice of Patna high court is the ex officio chairman of the university

2. Courses Offered

2.1 BA LLB (HONS)

It is an undergraduate course spanning a duration of 5 yrs that provides a bachelor of arts and LLB degree. The course is approved by BCI and has been graded A by NAAC.

2.2 LLM

The CNLU Patna offers education in the postgraduate level as well. It is a one year course that has been accredited an A grade by NAAC.

2.3 BBA LLB (HONS)

This is an undergraduate course that provides education in management and law. The 5 year course is BCI approved and graded A by NAAC.

2.4 LLD

It is a doctorate course, accredited an A grade by NAAC. It is a 3 yr course.

3. Getting into CNLU, Patna

3.1 BA LLB (HONS)

Getting into CNLU Patna is purely dependent on the performance in CLAT and the online counselling that follows. The candidate should have cleared std 12 with a minimum of 45% ( 40% for SC/ST).

3.2 LLM

The candidate must have secured an undergraduate degree with a minimum of 55% in any of the following courses. Mandatory Courses: B.A. LL.B., B.Com LL.B, BBA LL.B., B.Sc. LL.B, LL.B., B.Tech LL.B., B.L.S. LL.B. Admission is dependent on CLAT scores.

3.3. BBA LLB

The criterion for admission is CLAT scores and the preference list chosen by the candidate. Depending on the two, seats will be allotted through an online counselling process. The candidate must have cleared std 12 with a minimum of 45% (40% for SC/ST).

3.4. LLD

The course requires the candidate to have procured a PhD degree in law coupled with at least 5 years of experience in academia/research. The candidate should have made notable contributions to the legal community and this contribution should have substantial backing from competent authorities. The admission process includes three stages
1. Online/offline registration
2. Personal interview
3. Final selection depending on the interview and presentation
