Government Law College,Mumbai is one of the top-notch law colleges in Mumbai, India. Government Law College (GLC) which was setup in 1855 is one of the oldest Law College in Asia. Notable alumni from this college are B.R. Ambedkar, Pratibha Patil, L.K. Advani, Bal Gangadhar Tilak,Piyush Goyal, Kareena Kapoor, Ram Jethmalani, Homer Pithawalla, Ajit Prakash Shah, and many more.

It was established dating even before the University of Mumbai and enjoys statutory reputation for excellence in the field of legal studies. The College is honored that it is one of the place of matriculation for India’s most prominent Supreme Court and High Court judges who have passed greatest of judgments and legal doctrines that revolutionized the legal environment of our nation.

2. Courses Offered

GLC, Mumbaioffersundergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) level law programs in 3 disciplines to candidates. Courses offered at GLCinclude – Diploma in Cyber Law, Diploma in Intellectual Property: Law, Diploma Program in Human Rights.

2.1 For B.A, LL.B (Hons.)

Candidates can secure admission in courses offered GLC, Mumbaibased onMaharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHCET) Lawscore. Admission to this college is entrance test based that means students have to appear for Common Entrance Test .After they clear the written test students have to participate in personal interview.Minimum CET score required for Gen category student out of 150 is 50; for reserved category students, it is 40 out of 150.There are total 320 seats in BA LLB (Hons.) three-year course. In a five- year integrated course total seats are 240 seats.

2.2 For Postgraduate Diploma in Law

Interested candidates can apply online/ offline with required information. Candidates are selected based on rules and guidelines set by the college. Final admission is granted on the basis of student’s performance in the qualifying examination.

Application Process:

1. Candidates can apply online by visiting GLC, Mumbai official website.
2. For general category application, fees are INR 800 and for reserved categories, it is INR 400.
3. The application form includes scorecard of CET, two passport size photographs, passing certificate and certified birth and school leaving certificate. If the applicant belongs to reserved category original caste certificate would be required.

3. GLCM Eligibility

3.1. For BA LLB (Hons):

Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2 System) or Equivalent Examination with 50% marks(40% marks for SC/ST categories).As per the 2017 rules, there is no age bar for admission.She/he is not eligible for admission if they do not clear their qualifying examination with the required marks. Candidates, whose marks sheets of the qualifying examination are not produced at the time of formal interviews carried by the university are also not eligible for admission.

3.2.Post Graduate Diploma:

Candidate must be a graduate from a recognized university.Candidates are selected based on rules and guidelines set by the college. Final admission is granted on the basis of student’s performance in the qualifying examination.
