1. OVERVIEW

Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai ( MNLU Mumbai ) is a National Law University located at Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It is the 18th National Law University established in India. For the first two years MNLU Mumbai shared its campus with Tata Institute of Social Sciences. In 2017 it shifted its campus to the Centre for Excellence in Telecom Technology and Management at Hiranandani Gardens, Powai, Mumbai, where it will operate from until its permanent campus at Gorai is ready.

B.A., LL.B. (Hons.)

Admission to this course is based on merit determined by the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), which is a centralised test for admission to 21 National Law Universities in India.

LL. M.

MNLU Mumbai offers a one-year LL.M. Admission to this course is on the basis of merit determined by CLAT (PG).

Ph. D.

The University offers a Ph. D program requiring a minimum of three years and maximum period of six years of research and coursework.

Within the given 200 seats for LLB & LLM, women will be allotted 30% seats, PWD will be given 5% seats and families of Defense personnel get 5% seats allotted.

3. ELIGIBILITY

B.A. LL.B.

MNLU Mumbai is governed by CLAT notification as regards eligibility criteria. Candidates applying for the B.A. LL. B program must have completed their 10+2 in their first attempt, with an aggregate of not less than 50%. (45% in the case of SC/ST candidates and persons with disability). There is no age limit.
Foreign nationals will have to apply directly to the university.

LL. M.

Eligibility for admission into MNLU Mumbai is governed by CLAT notifications regarding the same.
Foreign nationals will have to apply directly to the university.

Ph. D

Candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. Programme require a Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade. A relaxation of 5% of marks, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991.
Candidates seeking admission must have qualified NET/SET/JRF examination or have to take the Ph. D. Registration Admission Test (PAT), conducted by MNLU Mumbai, which are followed by an interview.

4. FEE STRUCTURE

B.A. LL. B

For Maharashtra domiciled students, the course fee is Rs.12,02,000/-
For Indian Nationals from outside the state of Maharashtra, the course fee is Rs. 15,00,000/-
For Foreign National, NRI, or NRI Sponsored students, the course fee is USD 10,000 + Rs 1,92,000/- per annum.

LL. M.

For Indian Nationals domiciled in Maharashtra, the course fee is Rs. 2,02,470/- per annum.
For Indian Nationals from outside the state of Maharashtra, the course fee is Rs. 2,12,020/- per annum.
For foreign nationals, the course fee is USD 9000 + Rs 67,000 per annum.
