NLIUB

1. Overview

National Law Institute University, Bhopal or NLIUB is one of the first three law schools thathas been established under the National Law School system. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate level courses. It was founded in the year 1997, which shares the vision to become one of the best centers of legal education, training and research in the world.

2. Courses Offered

Aspirants are offered admission in law programs offered at NLIUB based on Common Law Entrance Test (CLAT). NLIUB offers an undergraduate B.A. or B.Sc. degree with an LL.B. For Masters Students, they offer an LL.M. and an M.Phil. Doctoral students can opt for Ph.D.’s and LL.D.s. Admission is through online counseling based on the rank obtained in CLAT.

2.1 For B.A, LL.B (Hons.)

Candidates can secure admission in courses offered NLIUB based on CLAT score. Aspirants need to take part in CLAT admission process .After they clear the written test students have to participate in the counselling process. Out of the 68 seats available for the general category candidates, 26 are reserved for the candidates belonging to the Madhya Pradesh State Domicile. Two seats are reserved for candidates from Jammu & Kashmir. 30% of the seats are reserved for women and 3% for Persons with Disability. Non Resident Indians aspirants either must be an NRI/OCI/POI cardholder or be sponsored by a first or a second-degree relation who is an NRI/OCI/POI cardholder.

2.2 For Postgraduate LL.M

The eligibility criteria for LLM course admissions for Foreign Nationals is such that admission will be offered if candidates possess LLB or an equivalent law degree with 55% aggregate marks in the qualifying exam.

2.3 For Ph.D. in Law

Eligible candidates who have finished their masters are required to appear the NLIU Bhopal admission test conducted by the university.

Candidates are then shortlisted based on their score in the admission test. They are then required to present their Research Proposal.

Application Process: Aspirants need to visit the official website of CLAT to fill the application form. CLAT application form needs to be filled online itself.

Admit Card: Candidates can download the admit card for CLAT exam from the official website of the national level law entrance exam.

2.4 Seat Distribution Matrix:

Women get 60 seats for LLB ( 5 years), 18 seats for  LLM, PWD candidates get 30 seats for LLB and 3 seats for LLM in the horizontal reservation. 50% of the reservation will be given in seat allotment to Madhya Pradesh Domicile students.

3. NLIUB Eligibility

3.1. For BA LLB (Hons):

Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2 System) or Equivalent Examination with 45% marks.As per the 2017 rules, there is no age bar for admission.She/he is not eligible for admission if they do not clear their qualifying examination with the required marks. Candidates, whose marks sheets of the qualifying examination are not produced at the time of formal interviews carried by the university are also not eligible for admission.

3.2. For LLM (One year):

LLB or an Equivalent Law Degree with 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/Persons with Disability); the candidates appearing in final LLB examination in April/May 2018 can also apply

3.3. LL.M. in Constitutional and Administrative Law:

B.A. LL.B., B.Com LL.B, BBA LL.B., LL.B., B.Sc. LL.B, BTech LL.B., B.L.S. LL.B.Candidates belonging to Specially Abled Persons (SAP) and other categories must have minimum 55% marks.

3.4.Ph.D. in Law:

The Candidate shall have a LLM Degree from a recognized university.
