1. Overview

National Law School of India University : The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) is an institution of legal education focusing on undergraduate and graduate legal and policy education in India. It was the first National Law University to be established in India as well as one of the first in the country to offer the five-year integrated undergraduate law degree.

Women get 18% for LLB ( 5 years), 30% for LLB(3 years) and 18.75% for LLM, PWD candidates get 5% and Karnataka domicile students get 25% reservation in seat allotment for all the courses.

3.1 For B.A,LL.B (Hons.)

The programme is open to anyone with a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised national or international university. Applicants in the general category must have graduated with at least 45% of their total marks. Applicants in the SC/ST category must have graduated with at least 40% of their total marks. Students in their final year of their Bachelor’s degree may also apply. Their final admission offer, however, will be contingent on successfully completing their Bachelor’s degree with the minimum aggregate marks specified above.

3.2 For LL.M in Business Law and Human Right Laws

Candidate has the option to choose any of the two offered specializations. Admission to this program is based on merit determined through a Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). The admission to the chosen specialization will be however determined by the inter-se ranking in CLAT

3.3 For Master of Public Policy

Candidates are shortlisted on the basis of the Policy Aptitude Test (PAT) scores

Shortlisted candidates then have to face a round of personal interview, on the basis of which the final selection is done

4. NLSIU Eligibility

4.1 For B.A, LL.B (Hons.)

A candidate for admission to the B.A, LL.B (Hons.) Degree Course shall have passed the Higher Secondary School Examination (10+2) system or an examination equivalent thereto securing in the first attempt, not less than 45% (40% in the case of SC/ST candidates and persons with disability) in the aggregate There is no age limit as per 2020 rules Those who do not clear the qualifying examination with the requisite marks are not eligible for admission. Candidates whose statement of marks of the qualifying examination is not available at the time of formal interviews are also not eligible for admission.

4.2 For LL.M in Business Law and Human Right Laws

As per the CLAT 2017 Common Rule

Candidates with a graduate degree in any discipline

4.4 For Research Degrees

M Phil.: The Candidate shall have an LL.M. Degree (regular mode) from a recognized University securing a ‘B+’ grade or an aggregate of 55% marks or its equivalent. Shortlisted candidates then have to face a round of personal interviews, on the basis of which the final selection is done

4.5 For Distance Education

Graduate of any discipline from a recognized university is eligible to apply. Following are the distance education programs offered by NLSIU:
