UPES Dehradun offers admission in undergraduate and postgraduate law programs based on an aspirant’s performance in Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
Candidates who succeed in clearing CLAT have to participate in the counseling round.

2.1 BA/BCom/BBA LLB:

• Admission in LLB course will only be through UL-SAT (Up to 80% of seats)
• Those candidates with minimum 50% Marks in HSC and SSC (10th & 12th) and whose CLAT ranking is up to 5000 or L-SAT India score of 60 percentile or above will be exempted from UPES Law Studies Aptitude test. They will then be directly invited for GD and Interview.
• For BA LLB (Hons.)/ BBA LLB (Hons.)/B.Com LLB (Hons) admission, candidates with 85% marks in 10th and 12th best of five subjects (English as one of the compulsory paper) are exempted from UPES Dehradun Law Studies Aptitude Test (UL-SAT). They will be invited directly for GD and Interview.
• There are 120 seats in all stream.

2.2 B.Tech LLB:

Students first have to clear the UPES Engineering Aptitude Test. Then aspirants have to appear for Centralized Counseling.

2.3 LLM:

CLAT Merit marks are taken into consideration followed by Online Entrance Test. There are total 25 seats for this course.

3.1. For BA LLB (Hons):

Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2 System) or Equivalent Examination with 50% marks.As per the 2017 rules, there is no age bar for admission.She/he is not eligible for admission if they do not clear their qualifying examination with the required marks. Candidates, whose marks sheets of the qualifying examination are not produced at the time of formal interviews carried by the university are also not eligible for admission. For BTech LLB, minimum 50% marks in PCM put together.

3.2. For LLM :

For Indian Nationals either B.A. LL.B., B.Com LL.B, B.Sc. LL.B, BBA LL.B., B.Tech LL.B., B.L.S. LL.B., LL.B. degree is must. The eligibility criteria for LLM course admissions for Foreign Nationals is such that admission will be offered if candidates possess LLB or an equivalent law degree with 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying exam. This criterion is for all the candidates.
