Cracking the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) would be the main aim for all of you, and understandably so, as it is the entrance exam for the most prestigious Law schools in our country. Legal Reasoning is the ability to assess a factual situation based on a given principle of law. One need not know anything more than what is given in the principle (or passage). However, the rules are normally re-inforced at the start of the game by the empire/referee. Prior knowledge of the rules helps you relax when the rules are re-inforced without the pressure of trying to understand them. In the same way, prior knowledge of the concepts behind the principles helps you understand the rules faster and with less effort, so that you can apply them to the situation more appropriately. However, do remember that you need to only apply what is given in the principle (or passage), even if you know something extra or you find it contradicts with what you already know.
