HSEE EXAM 2022 NOTIFICATION

OVERVIEW:
HSEE Exam 2022 Notification: Humanitarian and Social Sciences Entrance Examination (HSEE) is conducted by IIT Madras to admit students to PG programs.

HSEE SYLLABUS:

HSEE comprises of 2 parts of which first part has English and Comprehension skill, Analytical and QuantitativeAbility, General Studies and Environment & Ecology.

Section 1- English Comprehension:
This section comprises of questions predominantly in the areas of Comprehension passages with minimum two passages followed by 5-10 questions, Synonyms, Antonyms, Find the odd one out, Fill in the blank(s), Correct the sentence, Identify the error and Reading Comprehension. A very good vocabulary and speed in reading will help the candidates do well in this section. Proficiency in English will be basically tested.

Section 2 -General Knowledge:
This section contains questions on your general awareness of what is happening in the world during the last year, with an emphasis on India and static general knowledge. It includes History, Geography, General Science, Media, Sports, Environment, Policies, Polity, Culture, Economics, Civics and Current Affairs. Questions will be on regional, national and international topics.

Section 3- Analytical Ability:
It includes a wide variety of critical questions such as Arithmetic, Geometry, Logical Reasoning, Ratio Proportion, Time Distance, Number Series, Data Interpretation, syllogisms, logical sequences, drawing well-supported conclusions, reasoning by analogy, applying principles and completing arguments.

Section4- Environment and Ecology:
The Environment and Ecology section consists of questions in the areas of Study of environment, Ecology Research, various environmental issues.

The second part of the test has essay writing which draws insightful points showcasing the candidate’s depth of knowledge on the given topic.

HSEE EXAM PATTERN

  • HSEE examination will be conducted in the online mode and the language of the attempt will only be the English language.
  • The exam duration is 3 hours (180 minutes).
  • Both ‘Objective type questions’ and Subjective Questions will be asked in the exam.
  • Part – 1 with subjective questions will be conducted for 2.5 hours and Part -2 with essay question (Subjective question) will be conducted for 30 minutes.
  • The subjects which are tested in the examination includes English Language Comprehension, General knowledge, Analytical Ability, and Environment & Ecology.

HSEE ELIGIBILITY

For MA Course

  • For PG programs he/she must have acquired a minimum of 50% marks in 10+2 examinations.
  • General candidates must have 50% in their 12th class & LLB examination while OBC candidates need only 45% and SC/ST candidates need 40% to be eligible to apply for the exam.
  • HSEE offers 58 students for the MA program in IIT Madras.

How to Apply?

  • Online Registration: Candidates must create an account using their email ID and register. Later choose a password for their account.
  • Upload Documents: Students should submit a copy of the statement of marks of Class 10, Class 11/ 12. Scan and upload a recent passport size photograph (3.5 cms x 4.5 cms formal dress with white background).
  • Application Fee: HSEE Charges an application fee of rs. 2400/- for General Catagory, SC/ST and PWD candidates – rs. 1200/-for the entrance exam which is payable online through debit/ credit cards.
