SLAT 2018 Analysis

The difficulty level of a section is assessed as a function of both the toughness of questions as well as deviation fromthe expected pattern.

* The difficulty level of a section is assessed as a function of both the toughness of questions as well as deviation from the expected pattern.

Sectional Analysis:

1. English & Comprehension :

Similar to last year, there were 6 passages with 5 questions each. All the questions were direct questions and the size of the passages was also small as always. Overall it is an easy section

2. Legal Reasoning:

This section was easy to moderate. There was more emphasis on legal reasoning, however, there were around 5 fact-based questions without principles and a couple of knowledge-based questions. However, ALP students who are familiar with the concepts of contracts, torts, constitutional and criminal law would have scored well.

3. Logical Reasoning:

The section had a major surprise, though a pleasant one. Questions were predominantly of the Analytical reasoning type and the typical critical reasoning questions were conspicuously absent. So students felt it to be an easy section.

4. Analytical Reasoning:

In addition to the regular arrangement-based puzzles, blood relations, coding/decoding & series, there were around 10 to 12 Maths questions and 2-3 Visual Reasoning questions. ALP students who were comfortable doing maths felt this section easy.

5. General Knowledge:

Majority of the GK section was based on Current Affairs with only a few Static GK questions. Surprise element in this section was a photograph-based one. ALP students who were thorough with the GK banks did well in this section.
