SLAT 2021 Analysis

The SLAT 2021 Exam was conducted from 10-12th July 2021, in an online remote (home) proctored manner this
year, similar to last year owing to the ongoing pandemic. The number of questions were further reduced from 75
to 60 MCQs this year, with 12 questions across each of the 5 sections, to be completed in 60 minutes. This year too, the WAT section was included along with the SLAT exam itself, and students were given another 30 minutes for this task. Marking scheme remained the same, with no negative marking.
SECTIONAL ANALYSIS:
1. Reading Comprehension:
This section was predictable with 3 passages having 4 questions each. Most of the questions were direct ones.
While the passages on Day 1 were a bit lengthy, it was fairly simple and short on the remaining days. Overall this
section was Easy to Moderate.
2. Legal Reasoning:
This section was a Moderate one. The focus was majorly on Legal Reasoning, with only around 2-3 questions
based on Legal Knowledge. While most questions were fact-based questions with principles, there were a few
without principles as well. No surprises in this section.
3. Logical Reasoning:
Surprisingly, this section did not have much of the usual Critical Reasoning questions at all; it was predominatly
AR based, with a few questions on Syllogisms on some days. While the topics varied slightly across the days, the
level of questions was more or less similar. Overall ALPians found this section Easy.
4. Analytical Reasoning:
This section was mostly on expected lines. Questions were a mix of Arrangement & Puzzles, Series, Blood
relations, Coding/Decoding and a few questions from Maths, similar to the last few years. Some questions were
slightly lengthy and involved a little bit of calculation. Overall this section was Easy to Moderate.
5. General Knowledge:
The GK section this time predominantly had questions on Current Affairs,with a few on Static GK. Some questions needed a lot of in-depth knowledge, across all days, with a few unexpected kind of questions as well.

Written Ability Test (WAT)
Students had 30 mins for this section, and had an option to choose from two given topics. Some of the topics
were related to Communication and Information technology in Indian Judicial system, Woman Discrimination &
Violence, Social Media Platforms and Data Privacy, Medical Negligence during Covid etc. This section will be
evaluated only for those students who clear the cut offs.
