The National Law Universities (NLUs) are among the most sought after colleges for most law aspirants. However, there are quite a few good private law colleges that are worth reckoning with. Listed below are some of the Best Private Law Schools in India (in no particular order)
Symbiosis Law School, Pune (SLS –P)
Located in Viman Nagar, Pune, this is one of the most sought-after private colleges in India. It was established in 1977. It offers both the BA LLB and BBA LLB five-year integrated programs, with an annual intake of 300 students. Candidates seeking admission are required to take the Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT). Shortlisted candidates are called for a Personal Interview and Written Ability Test (PI-WAT). The admissions are finalised on this basis of the candidate’s performance in the SLAT exam and PI-WAT.
SLS-P also offers a three-year LLB program, and an LLM programme with a choice of six specialisations. Part-time diploma courses and certificate programmes are also offered.
Hostel facilities on campus are available for girls.
Indian Law Society’s Law College, Pune (ILS)
ILS is located on Law College Road, Pune. It was established in 1924. The college offers a five- year integrated BA LLB course. Admission is on the basis of the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (Mh CET – Law). The annual intake of students is about 240 students for the undergraduate program.
Also offered are the three-year LLB programme, LLM, and diploma courses.

Symbiosis Law School, Noida (SLS-N)
SLS-N was established in 1997 and like SLS-P, offers both BA LLB and BBA LLB programmes. The annual intake of students is about 240. Admissions are on the basis of Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT). Shortlisted candidates are called for a Personal Interview and Written Ability Test (PI-WAT). The admissions are finalised on this basis of the candidate’s performance in the SLAT exam and PI-WAT.

School of Law, Christ University (SLCU), Bengaluru
Located on Hosur Road, Bengaluru, it is regarded the best private law college in the state. It was established in 2006. SLCU offers integrated five-year BA LLB and BBA LLB programs. Having an annual intake of 700, the admission is based on the All India Entrance Test conducted by Christ University, followed by an interview, writing ability test and a micro-presentation.
The college also offers three LLM programs apart from M. Phil, Ph. D and diploma programs.
Hostels are available on campus for students, though it is not compulsorily residential.
KIIT School of Law
KIIT School of Law, situated in Bhubaneshwar. Odisha, was established in the year 2007, and runs under the guidance of Prof. N. L. Mitra, former director of The National Law School of India University, Bangalore. It offers the five-year integrated BA LLB, BBA LLB and BSc LLB programs. There is an annual intake of 240 students for the undergraduate programs. The admissions are based on the KIIT Entrance Examination – Law.
It has collaborations with international universities such as Northumbria University, England, Miami University, U.S.A, and Dong-A University, South Korea for academic collaborations and joint activities.
The university also offers an LLM with a choice of six specialisations, and a Ph. D program.

Institute of Law, Nirma University (ILNU), Ahmedabad
The institute was started in 2007 in Ahmedabad, Gujrat, and offers five-year integrated BA LLB and B Com LLB programs. Admission to the programs is on the basis of scores obtained in the CLAT. The intake is about 180 students. Interested candidates are required to fill in the form for both CLAT and ILNU.
The university also offers LLM and PhD programs.

Jindal Global Law School (JGLS), Sonipat, Haryana
Established in the year 2009, JGLS is another one of the country’s top private colleges. It has faculty with degrees from leading universities across the globe, and has tie ups with several international universities. Its proximity to the national capital also results in regular guest lectures from eminent speakers. However, the high tuition fees may prove a deterrent for most aspirants.
Admission is on the basis of a candidate’s percentage in their 10+2 or equivalent and their LSAT scores. The annual intake for the undergraduate courses is 360 students.
The university offers integrated five-year BA LLB and BBA LLB programs, an LLM and a Ph.D program.
It is a fully residential university, and hostel facilities are available for all students.
ICFAI Law School, Hyderabad
Established in 1956, the university offers integrated five-year BA LLB and BBA LLB programs. Admission is on the basis of scores obtained in the CLAT, LSAT or ICFAI Law School Admission Test (ILSAT).
The college offers LLM and Ph.D courses along with other certificate courses.

Amity Law School, New Delhi
Amity Law School was established in 1999, and was affiliated to Indraprastha University till June 2018. The courses offered are BA LLB, BBA LLB, and BCom LLB. Admissions were conducted on the basis of a Common Entrance Test conducted by the Indraprastha University.
